Yes, believe it or not, the beaches in Durban South Africa are gorgeous even in Winter. The sand is warm, the sun gorgeous and the atmosphere relaxing. The water is very cold, however that doesn’t stop some people from braving the cold sea either to swim or surf.
There is something completely comforting and healing about spending time at the ocean’s edge. Everyone is so calm and happy, you can just sense how people let their troubles go.
Matthew and Joshua had a complete blast rolling down the sand dunes, then making sand angels. They were giggling so much, which of course makes me giggle. We made sand castles, searched for shells, and then of course I was practically buried. I even had sand in my mouth.
We had brought a frisbee along and the boys and I had great fun throwing it to each other. They’re of course not so good at it and the wind kept taking it in all different directions. We would run like crazy to see who got to the frisbee first, diving into the sand like rugby players, it was very funny!
On our way home each boy got their ice-cream which is an “after the beach treat” that they’ve become acustomed to. At home we showered and changed and us 3 snuggled up in a warm be to watch Open Season on dvd. Good times. 🙂
